Check out your fans and pumps. Proper maintenance will save energy by ensuring that air or water flows efficiently through your systems. Pump up the savings even more by properly sizing electric motors and drives. To conserve energy and cut costs, consider the following energy savings housekeeping tips:

  1. Inspect and maintain fans and pumps. Implement a program of inspection and preventive maintenance to minimize component failures.
  2. Check and adjust belt drives regularly.
  3. Clean and lubricate fan components.
  4. Correct excess fan noise and vibration.
  5. Clean or replace air filters regularly.
  6. Clean duct-work, and fix duct and component leaks.
  7. Maintain clearance tolerances at pump impellers and seals.
  8. Clean pump impellers, and repair or replace them if eroded or pitted.
